Using the hands- on resources Day 2 - Using the teaching resources to set up your classroom and begin planning Day 3 - Planning a week of lessons, developing an awareness of formative while you are teaching, where to go next.

  • This is an online course over three Tuesday evenings – 1st, 8th and 22nd March. Your booking covers all three events. Learn all about the Big Ideas Acceleration programme designed to help students who are struggling in Years 6 – 8. If you have identified students who need help, let’s get them on this programme early so they can enjoy maths again for the rest of the year. You will need access to Cuisenaire rods and Numicon shapes. Let us know if you want to join but don’t have these.

  • Catherine will present this introduction to Numicon for all teachers, RTLB’s, LSC’s, SENCO’s and Teacher Aides who want to learn what Numicon is and how to use it. Numicon is designed to help all children from level 1-4 of the curriculum succeed in maths. It is created by teachers and experts in the field based on a proven concrete, pictorial, abstract approach. This course will give particular guidance when students struggle with maths. Numicon encourages children to explore maths using structured imagery and concrete apparatus in order to understand and explain maths concepts. We will look at the printed resources, the apparatus, and the use of manipulatives in your maths programme. You will leave with some resources and many ideas for use in your classroom. Morning tea will be provided but please bring your own lunch.
