Numicon NZ has been accredited by Oxford University Press to deliver Numicon Professional Development in New Zealand. 

If you are interested in the Numicon Approach, you are welcome to come for the first hour at no charge.

Please contact the presenter so that room arrangements can be made to cater for you.

If you wish to stay to complete the course, expect to pay on the day.

Please bring your Numicon equipment/books - and any favourite games or activities to share. Afternoon tea will be provided along with a complimentary resource to take away.

  • Maree Kirk from the Bay of Plenty Down Syndrome Association and Margi Leech co-present this day to provide teachers, Senco's and TA's with practical strategies and resources to use with your students. Parents are welcome to attend. Both Margi and Maree have educational experience, being educators and parents of children with learning disabilities and Down syndrome. Maree is in the final stages of completing her doctorate on supporting the learning of children.

  • Sunday 8 July

  • This event interests teachers who want to train others to use The Numicon Approach well in NZ through their CoL, or organisation, or under contract to Numicon NZ. Registrations are approved by Margi. Your registration should be accompanied by an email/letter explaining your reason for attending. Registrations close 1 June. There is a limited refund should you find you are not able to attend only in exceptional circumstances. Accommodation is available at the hotel which is located near public transport, restaurants, cafes with easy access to the city.

  • Friday 10 August

  • This course is an introduction to Numicon for new teachers, or for teachers wanting a refresher to the Numicon approach. We will explore activities from Numicon 1 - 6. We will look closely at the printed resources as well as the apparatus demonstrating the value of a hands-on approach that uses conversation, problem-solving in a sequential, consistent approach across the school. Children with high learning needs and older children who are struggling benefit hugely from this approach. Secondary teachers are welcome!

  • This course is suitable for RTLB's, teachers and TA's as well as parents who are working with students who have learning needs from ages 5 - 14. We will cover learning through Breaking Barriers, Numicon Intervention Programme and Big Ideas. You will receive a Maths Bag to use on the day and take with you.
