Accelerating learning for students in Years 3-5 with Numicon Intervention Programme - Venue TBC - NEW PLYMOUTH

This course with Janette is hands on practical session on how to implement the Numicon Intervention Programme. This in depth 12 - 15 week Intervention runs for 20 - 25 minutes per day in small groups. It has a diagnostic tool to ascertain the start point. Learners use manipulatives to communicate mathematically, generalise and explore relationships through explicit teaching, filling gaps they have missed with number structure, operations and early rational numbers. Teachers and Teacher Assistants will learn about how early misunderstandings can have a profound flow on effect with conceptual understandings and procedural fluency.
